About

The Trolls Hunters are a largely Bristol based folk duo –  Iona (fiddle/vocals/mandolin) and Rohan (guitar/vocals/cajon).

As siblings who both love folk music, we have played together since Iona could hold a tune on the fiddle. We play a variety of traditional, contemporary and original tunes and songs all with our unique twist of high-energy acoustic folk-metal, guaranteed to get you feet tapping, if not up and dancing!

We (along with a mandolin player) formed The Highway Home in around 2013 – We played a lot for a year or two, and recorded an EP, before we then went our separate ways – partly triggered by Iona running away to Norway to go to circus school (no, really!).

If you’re wondering about the name – it’s for exactly the reason you’re thinking: We hunt trolls! We do this by playing music it’s almost impossible not to dance to in order to entice them into the open. Once enticed out of their holes we can keep them dancing ’til dawn!

Fortunately the trolls in the UK are fairly tame in size and demeanour, and we often let them enjoy themselves. When playing in Norway it’s a whole different thing and we require a third member wielding an axe to run interference!

Both also do musical things on their own – you can check out their solo projects here:
